McLaren Health Plan announces no referral to see health care specialists
06/25/2008
McLaren Health Plan today announced that it just made it easier for its members to access specialty care.
McLaren Health Plan no longer requires its members to secure a written referral from their primary care provider to visit or receive treatment from an in-network specialist.
“At McLaren Health Plan, your health is our number-one priority,” said Beth Caughlin, RN, vice president of medical management for McLaren Health Plan. “That’s why it only made sense to eliminate a step in getting you to specialty care. Simply put: McLaren Health Plan wants our members to access the care they need when they need it.”
With this change, Caughlin encouraged health plan members to continue consulting with their primary care physicians to best coordinate care.
